About

If you are looking for a caring professional dog trainer or pet sitter look no further. Canine and Equine Services (CaES) are a dog training and pet care service based in Sittingbourne and serve Sittingbourne, Rainham, and the surrounding area. We provide the highest quality of care, and believe in making pets happy by meeting their mental and social needs in addition to their physical needs.

What's new?

Due to popular demand we are now offering one to one training sessions as an alternative option to our walk and train services. These sessions are already proving highly popular and availability is strictly limited.

Trustworthy

CaES believe high quality of care is delivered through up to date knowledge and a firm ethos of caring for the animal as an individual to provide beneficial one to one attention.

Qualified

I possess an enhanced DBS, comprehensive insurance and up to date (theory and practical) pet first aid certification. We are happy to make this available to you at any time.

Ongoing training

I have both theoretical knowledge gained from my degree and my ongoing training under the Institute of Modern Dog trainers (IMDT), and practical experience. I continue to attend courses and seminars to keep my knowledge up to date.

Experienced

I have increased my knowledge working for two years as a Dog Walker and Assistant Trainer for well respected local company Canine Connections. Previously I have worked on a stud and livery yard with stallions and young stock and at an educational events company with farm animals, birds of prey, and other exotics.

Services and Prices

Hyperactive dog that never tires? We can help.

Does your dog pull like a steam train on a walk? Do they not listen when you call them?
Perhaps your puppy is driving you mad hanging off your trouser legs?
You’re not alone, but I’m here to help.

Introducing our one to one training packages.

As with all training, your dog dictates the pace, and there are no quick fixes but we are confident we can help.

Here’s what Vanessa had to say about our lead walking training services:

“Loved Sophie and so did my dogs! Which is the most important thing. I have a 4 year old cockyspringshit (or mongrel most would know her as) and a one year old Cockerpoo! Life was very difficult, painful and embarrassing being dragged up the road. Then we met sophie! She was so patient, encouraging, and knowledgeable. I can now be proud of my twosome (never dreamed it could happen!) walking like babies beside me. Thank you Sophie, your help was a godsend x”

Walk and train

Primarily utilised for loose lead walking.

A combination of one to one sessions where I work with you to teach you how to get your dog to walk nicely on the lead with the addition of sessions where I take your dog for a walk and work on their training myself.

The owner training (OT) sessions aim to provide the Owner with the tools and techniques to train their dog to walk nicely on a lead, provide supervised practise and troubleshooting.

The training walks (TW) aim to give the dog opportunities to learn, understand and practise the techniques.

Covid-19 Policy

We will be following all government and Canine and Feline Sector Group (CFSG) guidance.

All consultations will be carried out with appropriate social distancing.

Frequent use of hand washing (or hand sanitiser where this isn’t possible.) will occur.

If you are home appropriate social distance will be maintained during handover. If you are not home then a minimum of surfaces will be touched and pet safe disinfectant will be used after touching necessary surfaces.

Physical contact with your dog will be limited as far as possible, and they will receive a complimentary ‘hospital bath’ with an animal safe ‘first aid’ disinfectant on pick up and drop off.

At this time we will not be transporting dogs by vehicle with the exception of emergencies.

We will use our own biothane (non-porous) leads and long lines which will be properly disinfected with pet safe disinfectant between dogs.

As always dogs will remain on a lead or long line at all times and will not interact with people or dogs from other households.

Mobile phones will only be handled as necessary.

Pet safe products

All the products we are using are tested to EN14476:2013 A2:2019 Annex A* This means it has been found to be effective against all coronaviruses and SARS-CoV-2.

Luecillin - This sounds scary but it is used for first aid, it is harmless to tissue so is suitable for all external uses. This includes directly in eyes and ears and for sensitive skin or pets that suffer from allergies. We will be using this on dogs coats on collection and pick up.

Safe4 - Safe4 Disinfectant is water-based and biodegradable. It has passed the DEFRA efficacy test for General Orders as defined in the diseases of Animals (Approved Disinfectant) Order 1978. It is so safe that animals can walk through it whilst it is still wet. This is the only disinfectant we will be using for leads, water bowls, surfaces, etc.

Use of these products and measures are a condition of service.

“Sophie is amazing and has lots of experience. I would highly recommend her she is very professional..”
Claire with Arthur and Peggy Sue
“Sophie has taken great care of my Pug Rocky every time she has looked after him. I don’t really like to leave him at all, but Sophie gave me great confidence and gave him as much love and comfort as he would get at home. Highly recommend her..”
Sam with Rocky
Sophie is the only one I'd ever trust with my dogs and horses. I can always enjoy my time away. I've even left my pregnant mare in her care, and she's assisted with my stallions. She has a gentle manner and I've always felt content knowing whatever I ask for will not only get done but will get done well.
